On September 3, 2022, the Party Branch of Shiyou and the Party Branch of the Provincial New Third Board Association jointly carried out a Party - building activity themed "Original Aspiration Like a Torch, Always Follow the Party". They entered Xiangtan Social Welfare Institute, holding the hands of children, caring for orphans and disabled children, and spreading social love.
Xiangtan Social Welfare Institute was established in the early days of liberation and is the only public welfare institution in the city that provides centralized support for "one elderly and one young". It mainly undertakes the "care, treatment, education, rehabilitation, and social" services for orphaned and disabled children, "three no" civil objects, dementia and disability elderly and disabled people, and provides housing and care services for revolutionary martyrs' orphans, widows, and revolutionary disabled personnel. At present, there are 56 orphaned and disabled children in the welfare institution, of which 99% are disabled children.

During the condolence event, Dean Liu Yong of the welfare home first led volunteer members to visit the activity rooms, classrooms, rehabilitation rooms, and other facilities of the welfare home, and provided a detailed introduction to the relevant situation of the welfare home. Most of the children in welfare homes are disabled, and many of them cannot study or live normally. They rely on the dedicated and meticulous care of welfare home teachers and therapists. Seeing the children greet the volunteers with enthusiasm and cheerfulness, and actively showcase their handmade crafts to us, the volunteers feel very gratified and express their high respect for the selfless efforts of the welfare institution teachers in raising, teaching, and rehabilitating special children. Party members, cadres, and volunteers of Shiyou Electric will donate condolence materials to the welfare home and express their willingness to mobilize more social forces to care for these children, so that they can feel more love from the big family of society.

Subsequently, the volunteers were divided into three groups to carry out in-depth communication activities, bringing snacks and fruits to them, and engaging in friendly interactive games with the children. They had in-depth conversations with the "foster parents" and asked about the children's learning and living conditions. The children also communicated and played with the consolers in a graceful manner, and actively and confidently performed programs for everyone. The children were filled with laughter and joy, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere on site.
In this event, the teachers of the welfare home stated that this kind of activity not only allows the children in the welfare home to feel the care from society, helping them become more confident and positive, but also conveys positive energy for social welfare.
