The intelligent active safety device is a critical protection mechanism installed on the wind turbine hub, designed to enhance turbine safety and reliability. It consists of a gyroscope, alarm relay, vibration detection circuit, and communication module.
In the event of impeller overspeed, the system directly triggers the pitch system’s emergency feathering, bypassing the slip ring to mitigate risks associated with main control system failures, slip ring malfunctions, or wiring issues. This ensures that the blades can be feathered even in emergency situations, preventing turbine overspeed and reducing the risk of tower collapse, effectively serving as the last line of defense for the wind turbine.
Leveraging intelligent algorithms, the device converts gyroscope signals into vibration data and transmits them to the pitch system or main control system. By analyzing these vibration signals, the system can identify turbine status and perform fault diagnostics, enhancing predictive maintenance and operational safety.
